From Atiku To Tinubu: Okowa Signals A New Political Direction
Ifeanyi Okowa, a former governor of Delta State, claims he has changed his mind and will back President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, on Saturday, Okowa revealed this.
Okowa emphasized that time has passed, pointing out that he was in another ticket in 2023.
Remember that Okowa was Atiku Abubakar’s running mate in the 2023 election for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“I was in another ticket in 2023 but I have now seen the light. I have seen what Tinubu is doing. I have seen where Nigeria is going. I cannot stay in darkness when there is light,” Okowa said.
“I am not here to deceive anybody. I have been in opposition before. I know what it is to be in opposition. But when you see the truth, you must follow the truth.”
Okowa’s political shift is a reminder that political loyalties can change quickly. He once backed Atiku, but after not being chosen as his running mate, he appears to have moved away from that camp and toward Tinubu. In politics, support can be uncertain: someone who stands with you today may change sides tomorrow.
