Adebutu Breaks Silence On INEC List Exclusion

Over 1,000 defectors from the All Progressives Congress, led by former member of the House of Representatives Segun William, have joined the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

PDP governorship candidate Ladi Adebutu and other party leaders, including Ogun Central senatorial candidate Iyabo Obasanjo, welcomed the defectors on Monday at the party’s secretariat in Abeokuta.

Speaking at the event, Adebutu dismissed his exclusion from INEC’s list of candidates for governor as a short-term setback.

“I have been the candidate of the PDP for the last 20 years, in every election cycle. My question is: at what stage did I leave or vacate the party? Where is the proof that, for one day, I have even visited the APC office, let alone joined the party?” he said.

“But I assure our supporters that this party will not lose focus.

“We know that the trick is to get us distracted. We will not be distracted. We will keep our eyes on the ball, and we shall win.

“We are seeking the progress of our dear Ogun State. My sincere appreciation goes first and foremost to our incoming governor, who has made this occasion possible.”

I believe the list has since been updated to include Adebutu’s name. As the election approaches, I hope all parties will work together to ensure a peaceful, fair, and orderly process.

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
