Fayose Slams APC Politicians Seeking Votes Despite Rising Insecurity

All Progressives Congress (APC) politicians have come under fire from Nigerian social commentator Isaac Fayose for allegedly failing to address rural communities’ poor road conditions and insecurity. Subscription to Nigerian news

In an online video, Fayose voiced his displeasure with politicians who allegedly use helicopters to reach their villages due to poor roads and insecurity, only to return and ask the locals to vote for them and the same government.

He questioned the contradiction, arguing that instead of focusing on winning votes without offering long-term solutions, politicians ought to be more concerned with solving the problems that their communities face.

He said: “Flying a helicopter to your village due to insecurity and bad roads you failed to do, then telling them to vote for you and for the same government that was unable to secure the roads to your village. APC politicians are very useless.”

I agree with Fayose that it is difficult for politicians to ask for people’s votes while insecurity, poor roads, and other serious challenges continue to affect the country. The government needs to do better and address these concerns. Political parties should also avoid imposing candidates on the public and instead allow voters to make their choices freely. Anyone seeking to become the next president should earn people’s trust and support—not expect it.

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
