Enugu Local Elections: APC Wins All 17 Chairmanship Seats

According to the results announced by the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), the All Progressives Congress (APC) won all 17 local government chairmanship seats in the council elections held on September 26, 2026.

The council elections were officially concluded on Sunday when Prof. Christian Ngwu, the chairman of ENSIEC, announced the results at the commission’s Enugu headquarters.

All of the 17 candidates who emerged on the APC platform were declared the chairmen of their respective local government areas by Ngwu.

Ugochukwu Nwanjoku won in Aninri, Okolo Uchenna Joseph in Awgu, Beloved Dan Anike in Enugu East, Onoh Ibenaku in Enugu North, and Caleb Ani in Enugu South, according to the results.

Vitalis Chinedu Ngwu of Ezeagu, Martin Amadieze of Igbo Etiti, Chris Onyekachi Simon of Igbo Eze North, Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze of Igbo Eze South, and Ani Brendan Emeka of Isi-Uzo are the others.

Engineer. Jude Chinedu Asogwa won in Nsukka, John Ogbodo won in Nkanu West, and Mike Ogbuekwe won in Nkanu East.

Anyaegbudike Greg won in Oji River, Ezeoha Innocent won in Udenu, Agu Hyginus won in Udi, and Ezeukwu Chijioke won in Uzo-Uwani.

When Ngwu announced the results, he praised the people of Enugu State for taking part in the elections, pointing out that their participation gave the process purpose.

Additionally, he praised the media, civil society organizations, and security agencies for their roles in making the elections a success.

In addition to congratulating the winning candidates, the ENSIEC chairman urged them to see their wins as a call to service and a chance to help the residents of their local government districts.

The chairmanship portion of the September 26 council elections was officially concluded by ENSIEC with the announcement of the 17 results.

The 17 newly elected council chairmen were then given certificates of return by the commission.
