ADC Blasts FG For Freezing Osun’s Funds: Political Tensions Rise

The freezing of statutory allocations to local governments in Osun State has been called “political terrorism” by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which accuses the Federal Government of using it as a political tool in advance of the state’s governorship election.

Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, said in a statement that the political impasse was now about more than just politicians.

The opposition party claimed that since money intended for workers’ salaries, primary healthcare, schools, and other crucial grassroots services remained entangled in the dispute, common citizens were now suffering the consequences.

“This is pure political terrorism. Political opponents are not enemy combatants. Opposition-controlled states are not occupied territories. Public institutions do not belong to whichever party temporarily controls the federal government,” it said.

“This sinister move confirms that the Tinubu-led federal government will do anything, including starving the people of Osun State, to achieve its political objectives. Yet no democracy worthy of the name deliberately sacrifices the welfare of innocent citizens in pursuit of partisan political ends.”
