Report Online Vendors Who Send The Wrong Products, Lagos Advises

In an effort to address unfair business practices, the Lagos State Government has asked customers to report online vendors who deliver goods that differ from what they ordered.

In a consumer awareness message released on Monday, the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency advised locals to report online purchases that don’t live up to the quality or descriptions provided by vendors.

According to the agency, when customers receive items that are different from what they ordered, they shouldn’t keep quiet.

“Goods or products you order online should be delivered as promised.

“If the items delivered do not match their descriptions, are different from what you ordered, or fail to meet the expected quality, do not keep silent!” the agency wrote on X.

“Speak up and take action,” the agency advised.

“Register your complaint with the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) against unfair business practices.”

The agency provided a toll-free helpline, 080 0005 2726, and an email address, lasgcopa@gmail.com, through which consumers can reach it to report complaints.

Reaffirming its commitment to consumer rights, LASCOPA stated, “In Lagos State, consumers are kings.”

I welcome this development and commend Lagos State for taking action to protect consumers. Ordering goods online only to receive the wrong items or nothing at all can be extremely frustrating, especially when your money is gone. Consumers should pay close attention and report dishonest sellers. Holding offenders accountable can deter others and encourage online businesses to treat customers fairly.
