Solomon Buchi, a relationship coach, has sparked controversy on social media by expressing his belief that a married woman shouldn’t be in charge of paying rent.
In a video that has gone viral, Buchi stressed that one of a husband’s main responsibilities is to give his family a place to live. He said that men are the home’s natural providers and guardians.
He said;
“A woman should never have to pay rent. If you’re a man and you claim to be a husband, you should be able to provide at least shelter. You’re meant to be a provider and a protector.”
“If you believe the man should exclusively provide, then you should exclusively be domesticated. If she wants an exclusive provider, you must demand an exclusive traditional woman. You can’t eat your cake and have it.”
Hmmmm! What about women who pay the bills and still do the house chores? I believe this perspective is not entirely fair. Whether he is paying the bills or not, there is nothing wrong with helping out with some of the house chores.
Sharing responsibilities at home should be a mutual effort, regardless of who earns the income.
