Breaking Free: Femi Dapson Reveals Why He Walked Away from Winners’ Church

Femi Dapson, a music producer, has described how he left a lucrative job at Winners’ Church in order to pursue better prospects in Lagos.

In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Dapson talked about his early career and gave an explanation for his decision to leave a comfortable position at the church even though he had advanced to a senior level.

He said: “I had to leave Winners, honestly, because I was like, if I stay here, I’ll get too comfortable. At the time, I was CEO level. I was already working at the highest level of church no uni degree.

“I was wearing ties. I was meeting with presidents. I was like, Omo, don’t get carried away. You need to go and make money. And then I left. I came to Lagos.

“And when I got to Lagos, I did a cleaning job for a bit. And I saw a job opportunity in a newspaper, actually on the back of a newspaper. And I just said Let me just apply”.

“There were people with BScs there, bro. I kid you not. There were people with BScs. And I was there in the interview. I was like, Omo, this is crázy.

“But when I entered there, as I said, I know how to make mouth. So I sold them dreams, and they were so excited. I was telling them that, see, I will make your life easy. This is what I was doing in Winners. Visiting entry. And they were so happy about it”.

Sometimes, when we find ourselves in a position and decide to leave, it can feel like the end of the world. We often believe that leaving a place where we’re comfortable means losing everything, and the pain can be overwhelming. However, it’s important to remember that change is a part of growth. Although it might be difficult and even painful in the short term, stepping away from familiar territory can open doors to better opportunities and a brighter future. Life has a way of rewarding those who have the courage to move on and trust that there is something greater waiting for them beyond their comfort zone.
