Eniola Badmus Seeks Reconciliation With Laide Bakare

Following criticism for her response to Laide Bakare’s name during a recent podcast appearance, Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus apologized to her coworker and expressed a wish to move past their disagreements.

Days after a video from her appearance on Isbae U’s Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast went viral on social media, Badmus apologized in a statement posted on Instagram on Tuesday.

When the host mentioned Bakare as one of his favorite actresses during the interview, Badmus hissed and altered her expression. Online reactions to the incident sparked conversations about the two actresses’ tense relationship.

“On reflection, I realise my reaction when Laide Bakare’s name was mentioned during my recent interview could have come across as dismissive, and for that, I sincerely apologise,” she wrote.

“Laide, whatever our differences, I choose peace and I genuinely wish you well.”

“We’re all growing, learning and becoming better versions of ourselves. Sometimes maturity is simply knowing when to let go and move forward,” she stated.

“Joo maa binu. No negativity. No grudges. Let love lead and peace reigns.”

I admire the approach Eniola Badmus has taken. Choosing peace is both important and commendable. The two should let go of past grievances, move forward, and allow peace to reign. May this be the light that guides them toward reconciliation.

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
