Tinubu Condemns Killing Of Retired General Rabe In Kidnappers’ Custody

The death of retired Major-General Rabe Abubakar, who was allegedly kidnapped by armed criminals in Katsina State and died while still in their custody, has caused President Bola Tinubu great grief.

The president expressed “shock and sadness” upon learning of the former military officer’s passing in a statement released by the State House on Saturday. He described the incident as a tragic reminder of the security issues that certain regions of the country face.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed shock over the death of retired Major-General Rabe Abubakar while in the custody of terrorists in Katsina State.”

“General Abubakar, after a distinguished career in the military, retired a few years ago. He was on his way to his hometown when the hoodlums captured him.”

While condemning the attack, Tinubu declared: “Bandits, kidnappers, and sponsors of terror should now surrender or face the full force of the Nigerian State. These windows of surrender will not remain open forever. And no mercy will be shown to those who trade in the blood of Nigerians.”

“As Nigerians, we must stand united and be assured that the enemies of our nation shall soon be history. We will triumph over terror and continue to build a more prosperous nation.”

“General Abubakar’s death should further serve as a defining moment in our battle against terrorists and insurgents, never to negotiate with them on any terms, but to continue to treat them as the greatest enemies of our dear nation, who should never be spared.”

The loss of Retired General Rabe is a profound tragedy that leaves a deep sense of sorrow and outrage. Such heinous acts underscore the brutality of kidnapping and the devastating impact on families and the nation. It is imperative that kidnappers are held fully accountable for their actions, and implementing the death penalty for such crimes could serve as a strong deterrent to prevent future tragedies.

This is a great loss for us all, and justice must be upheld to honor his memory and ensure greater security for everyone.

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
