Shocking Ondo Robbery: Suspected Robbers Cause Technician’s Death
Idris Clement, a local technician, was killed in a robbery in the Shagari village area of Akure, the capital of Ondo State.
He was later pronounced dead by the hospital’s medical staff.
Journalists were informed of the incident by DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Ondo State Police Command’s public relations officer.
He revealed that a suspect had been detained in relation to the murder and was presently being questioned at the Command’s State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCID).
Jimoh reassured the grieving family and locals that anyone found responsible for the incident would be held fully accountable.
The gangsters allegedly killed the 47-year-old father of five after they broke into the neighborhood at around one in the morning on Sunday, attacking locals and robbing them of their belongings.
According to AbdulFatai Clement, one of the deceased’s sons, the robbers used axes and cutlasses to attack his father before one of them pulled out a gun and shot him.
He went on to say that the robbers ran away as soon as he passed out, and they had to take him to the hospital, where he sadly lost a lot of blood.
It is truly disheartening to see such tragic events continue to unfold in Nigeria. When will all this stop? Our hearts go out to the family of the technician, whose life was lost. We extend our deepest sympathies and prayers for strength and comfort during this difficult time. May his soul rest in perfect peace
