Protest In Abuja Turns Chaos As Sowore Faints

Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist, passed out during a confrontation with police during a Democracy Day demonstration at Abuja’s Unity Fountain.

Those who had gathered to protest against economic hardship, insecurity, and bad governance were dispersed by the policeman using tear gas.

Tear gas canisters were used by security personnel in an apparent attempt to disperse the protesters.

Sowore has reportedly been taken to an undisclosed hospital for additional testing and treatment in the wake of the incident.

We wish Sowore a swift and full recovery. May he regain his strength soon and continue to be a powerful voice for change. Our thoughts are with him during this time, and we hope to see him back on his feet soon.

QUOTES

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
