Broda Shaggi Shares Story Of Stray Bullet Injury In ‘Second Chance’
Nigerian comedian Broda Shaggi recounts his March 2026 stray bullet injury, surgeries and ongoing recovery in a YouTube video released Wednesday.
Nigerian comedian, actor and performer Broda Shaggi has recounted how a stray bullet struck his hip in March 2026, leaving him unable to perform and requiring multiple surgeries, in a video titled Second Chance (The Story) released on Wednesday, October 21.
In the video, Shaggi, whose real name is Samuel Perry, described the incident, his experience in hospital, the emotional toll of being unable to work and his treatment in Dubai. He said he is yet to fully recover but can now stand independently and walk with the support of crutches.
Shaggi said the shooting occurred after he and his team had completed a brand activation and were leaving the venue in a bus on an expressway. He recalled hearing a loud bang before noticing blood around his hip.
“That was when it dawned on me that I had been hit by a stray bullet,” he said.
He was initially taken to a hospital where first aid was administered before being transferred to another facility for further treatment because the first hospital lacked the equipment needed to manage his injury.
The comedian said he feared for his life during the journey to the hospital and later worried that the injury could affect his ability to dance, act and make music.
“I grew up dancing with my dad, I grew up singing, playing drums,” he said, explaining his fears about how the injury could affect his career.
Shaggi also spoke about the emotional challenges of spending months away from the activities that had defined his life. He said he sometimes cried while watching videos of colleagues performing, uncertain whether he would regain the ability to do the same.
He added that he continued writing content and developing a YouTube series while in hospital, partly because he knew his audience had missed his work.
