Nigeria’s Flamingos Crowned WAFU B Champions After 4–0 Win

After a flawless campaign, the Nigerian Flamingos defeated Togo 4-0 in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire, to win the 2026 WAFU-B U-17 Girls Cup.

The Flamingos demonstrated their dominance throughout the tournament by winning five of their five games and finishing the competition undefeated.

The star of the match was captain Chidera Harmony, who gave Nigeria a commanding lead before halftime with two goals from the penalty spot.

In order to give the Flamingos a 2-0 lead going into halftime, Harmony calmly converted her first penalty kick in the fifteenth minute and then another one twenty minutes later.

Following the restart, Oluebube Umejiaku extended Nigeria’s lead in the 67th minute.

By that point, the outcome was essentially out of Togo’s control, but the Flamingos persisted in trying to score more goals in an effort to cap off an incredible campaign.

Nigeria won the sub-regional championship when Oluwakemi Adegbuyi scored the final goal in the ninetieth minute, making it 4-0 and igniting celebrations.

The victory completes an incredible tournament for the Flamingos, who achieved a perfect record by combining defensive discipline with offensive efficiency.

Nigeria has now won five straight games after defeating Togo.

The Acting General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Emmanuel Ikpeme, has commended players and officials of the team for their excellent outing at the championship.
