NFF Fires Falcons Coach Amidst World Cup Exit
Following the Super Falcons’ dismal performance at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has ordered head coach Justin Madugu and members of his technical staff to resign immediately.
In a succinct statement published on its official X account on Monday, the federation made the announcement.
“The Executive Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation has asked members of the technical crew of the @NGSuper_Falcons to step down with immediate effect,” the NFF stated.
Following a challenging WAFCON campaign, the Super Falcons were unable to automatically qualify for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
At the beginning of their Group C campaign, Nigeria was shockingly defeated by debutants Malawi. However, Malawi advanced to the final before losing to Cameroon, who won the continental title on Sunday.
We sincerely wish him all the best in his future endeavors and thank him for his contributions to the team.
