Monye’s Concerns About The Adire NYSC Uniform Proposal
Morris Monye, a media personality, has questioned the idea of making Adire and Ankara the uniform for every member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), claiming that this would not adequately represent Nigeria’s cultural diversity.
Speaking about the proposal, Monye stated that, given the nation’s diverse ethnic and cultural identities, it would be inappropriate to make fabrics associated with one region the uniform for corps members nationwide.
“Adire and Ankara can’t be the uniform for all NYSC members across the country. We are all not from the SW region.”
“Rather than focusing on cosmetic changes like uniforms or ceremonies, we should be addressing the real issues affecting the scheme and investing in practical, long-term entrepreneurship education.
The FG should rethink this”, he stated.
Monye’s stance resonates with my own perspective. I don’t like the idea of the Adire uniform; rather, I believe that our efforts should be channeled into meaningful reforms. It is crucial that we prioritize addressing the foundational issues and working towards genuine progress. Monye’s words truly speak my mind—it’s time to focus on what truly matters for the betterment of our system.
