Kaduna Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Killing Of Girlfriend
The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a man in connection with the suspected killing of his girlfriend.
The police said the suspect was the last person to have contact with the deceased before her body was found in the Romi area of Chikun Local Government Area of the state.
A statement issued by the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, indicated that the incident occurred on September 5, when police received information that the lifeless body of one Rebecca Jeremiah had been found along Mai Angwa Street, Romi.
Police detectives from the Romi Outstation responded to the scene and rushed the victim to St. Gerald Hospital, Kakuri, where she was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
Her body has been deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
According to the police statement, Jatau was the last person to have called the deceased to meet him at a beer parlour joint in Romi.
He was later traced and arrested at his place of work, Tomato Jos Company, Maraban, Jos area of Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
During interrogation, the police said the suspect confessed to having a fight with the deceased in his room over a phone call from another woman.
The suspect allegedly told investigators that the altercation resulted in her death, after which he dumped her body in an open field close to his house in an attempt to conceal the crime.
The police said the suspect remains in their custody as investigations continue, and will be charged in court after the conclusion of the investigation.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, has condemned all forms of violence and called on members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully.
The command also reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice for victims and bringing suspected perpetrators to book.
