VP Shettima Arrives In India To Join The 18th BRICS Summit

In order to represent President Bola Tinubu at the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit, Vice President Kashim Shettima has traveled to New Delhi, India.

A high-level Nigerian delegation led by Shettima is attending the summit with the goal of enhancing collaboration between BRICS member and partner nations.

A closed-door session on “Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism” for core members will kick off the summit, according to the main schedule.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will host a gala dinner, tour the Bharat Innovates Exhibition, take part in a joint tree-planting ceremony, and hold multiple bilateral meetings during the day.

Nigeria’s involvement is anticipated to advance the Federal Government’s initiatives to improve economic cooperation with bloc nations, increase trade and investment opportunities, and deepen bilateral ties.

The summit is being held under the theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”

Members of the Nigerian delegation include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani; and Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal

Nigeria is participating in order to increase trade, investment, technology, and economic cooperation opportunities by leveraging its relationship with the BRICS and partner nations.

Nigeria can advance its diplomatic and economic interests on the international scene while interacting with leaders and representatives of significant emerging economies at the summit.
