Uriel Oputa, an entrepreneur and former Big Brother Naija housemate, has questioned the increasing trend of couples using social media to discuss their personal relationship problems.
The reality star questioned why people now use social media to resolve personal conflicts in a post on her Instagram story.
She emphasized that not every miscommunication requires public attention and questioned when social media became a family court.
She wrote, “This is probably an unpopular opinion, but why do people bring their personal relationship fights to social media? Like… when did social media become the family court?
“I pray that I end up with a partner who has the wisdom and emotional maturity to understand that not every disagreement needs an audience. Some things should be handled within the family, privately, with honest communication, and if necessary, with counselling or a trusted professional.
“Because the truth is, social media doesn’t love you the way you think it does. People will watch, pick sides, screenshot, make memes, laugh, argue in the comments… and then scroll to the next thing.”

Relationship issues are best resolved privately rather than brought to social media. It takes maturity and open communication to work through disagreements respectfully. Not every part of our lives needs to be shared online; some matters are better kept between the people involved.
