Toolz Stands Firm On Viral Comment Concerning In-Laws And Marriage
Tolulope Oniru, better known online as Toolz, is a media personality who has defended her recent remarks regarding relationships with in-laws after her viral interview sparked online debates.
In an interview with Morayo Afolabi Brown, Toolz discussed her ten years of marriage to her pilot husband and cautioned prospective spouses against getting married if their partner’s parents disapprove.
She wrote;
“I’ve seen the different takes on what I said on @themorayoshow and I still fully stand by it.
I genuinely believe it’s important that your partner’s parents like you. Or at the very least, respect you.
Because if they don’t, it’s a battle the incoming partner rarely wins. Best-case scenario: your partner chooses you and ends up estranged from their parents. And while ‘it’s us against the world might sound romantic, that’s a heavy burden for any relationship to carry.
I’m not saying your in-laws have to adore you or agree with every decision you make absolutely. That’s unrealistic. But they should respect you, respect your relationship, and respect the decisions you and your partner make together.
Peace between your partner and their parents is a blessing. And when that peace extends to you as well, it makes life so much easier for everyone involved.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.”
I believe she is right; having your in-laws’ love and acceptance is crucial in marriage. Without their support, it can become an ongoing battle that you may have to fight for the rest of your life. Staying strong in such a situation requires patience, resilience, and the grace of God to navigate the challenges and maintain peace in the marriage.
