Shettima’s Rise In 2027: Okechukwu Calls For More Powers For Tinubu’s VP
Osita Okechukwu, a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged President Bola Tinubu on Saturday to give Kashim Shettima more authority to manage the country’s economic affairs after keeping him as Vice President until 2027.
Okechukwu expressed his happiness at Tinubu’s gracious decision to keep Vice President Shettima after all the conjecture, formalities, and political scheming surrounding the matter.
The party leader stated that while Tinubu’s economic reforms have produced notable improvements in macroeconomic stability, hunger and poverty are still serious problems that need to be addressed.
Okechukwu in a statement said, “May I commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for graciously retaining His Excellency Kashim Shettima as Vice President and humbly request that more powers be delegated to him to oversee economic affairs.
“I am making this humble appeal based on the fact that the economic reforms of Mr. President have yielded significant gains at the macroeconomic stability level.
“However, hunger and poverty remain pressing challenges, which invariably require the urgent delegation of greater economic responsibilities to the Vice President, given his background in rural development and economic management.”
It is appropriate and beneficial for the president to assign duties to the vice president, as it ensures effective governance and maximizes the strengths of both leaders.
Delegating responsibilities allows the vice president to contribute meaningfully to national development, fosters teamwork within the administration, and demonstrates confidence in their capabilities.
Such arrangements not only enhance leadership efficiency but also prepare the vice president for greater roles in the future, ultimately strengthening the overall effectiveness of the government.
