Shettima Prefers Privacy On 60th Birthday, Calls For Prayers For Nigeria

Vice President Kashim Shettima has chosen to celebrate his 60th birthday in a low-key manner. He has asked friends, colleagues, and well-wishers not to post congratulations in newspapers or broadcast happy messages on radio, television, or the internet.

The decision, according to Shettima, who will turn 60 on September 2, 2026, is a reflection of his conviction that national development should continue to be the primary focus of public attention rather than individual celebrations.

In a statement released on Saturday by Stanley Nkwocha, his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, the Vise President asked supporters to refrain from planning public birthday celebrations, congratulatory parties, or charity advertisements in his honor.

“To ensure absolute propriety, I respectfully appeal that there should be no public birthday celebrations, congratulatory gatherings or goodwill advertorials across print, broadcast and digital media platforms”, Shettima said.

Shettima encouraged well-wishers to direct their goodwill toward praying for Nigeria and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration rather than celebrating him with lavish events or sponsored commercials.

In particular, he asked for prayers for greater national unity, peace and prosperity for all Nigerians, long-term solutions to the country’s security issues, and the success of the administration’s economic reforms.

According to the vise president, the event should be more of a chance for introspection, thankfulness, and a fresh dedication to serving the nation than a celebration of a personal achievement.

On September 2, 2026, Shettima will turn sixty.

Wishing you a very happy 60th birthday in advance! May this special milestone bring you joy, good health, and fulfillment. Here’s to celebrating your life and achievements, and to many more wonderful years ahead. Happy birthday in advance!

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
