The Lagos State Branch of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) has moved to strengthen its relationship with The Guardian Newspaper as part of efforts to promote professionalism, public awareness and sustainable development within Nigeria’s built environment.
On Monday, 10 August 2026, the Chairman of NIESV Lagos State Branch, ESV Tosin Kadiri, FNIVS, led members of the Branch Executive Committee on a courtesy visit to the management of The Guardian Newspaper at Rutam House, the organisation’s headquarters in Lagos.
The delegation was received by the Managing Director, Mr Chinedum Uwaegbulam; the Editor, Dr Kabir Alabi Garba; and other members of the newspaper’s senior management team.
Speaking during the visit, Kadiri expressed appreciation to The Guardian for its longstanding partnership with the Branch and the Institution, particularly its role in providing credible information and creating public awareness on issues relating to estate surveying, valuation and the wider real estate sector.
He explained that the visit was aimed at deepening the existing relationship and exploring opportunities for a more strategic partnership that would benefit both organisations while advancing the public interest.
Discussions focused on key challenges affecting Nigeria’s built environment, including the activities of unqualified practitioners, recurring building collapses, affordable housing, the use of alternative building materials, professional regulation and the need for stronger public education and advocacy.
Both organisations emphasised the important role of the media in educating the public, promoting professional standards and supporting reforms capable of driving positive change across the real estate and built environment sectors.
The visit reaffirmed the commitment of the NIESV Lagos State Branch to building stronger institutional partnerships and using strategic communication and advocacy to support a safer, more sustainable and professionally regulated real estate sector in Lagos and Nigeria.
