New Leadership At The Service Department under Tinubu
Abel Enitan has been named the new Head of the Federation’s Civil Service by President Bola Tinubu, with effect from August 27, 2026.
When Didi Esther Walson-Jack reaches the statutory retirement age of 60, she is scheduled to leave the Federal Civil Service, and Enitan will take her place.
Currently serving as the Federal Ministry of Education’s Permanent Secretary and the highest ranking Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service, Enitan is an Osun State native.
He was posted to the Office of the Vise President, the Ministry of Police Affairs, and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs during his seven years and seven months as a Permanent Secretary.
Announcing the appointment in a statement on Wednesday, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Enitan brings extensive institutional experience and a deep understanding of the Federal Civil Service to the position.
“Mr Enitan, from Osun State, is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.
“He brings considerable institutional experience and a deep understanding of how the Federal Civil Service works to his new responsibility,” the statement read.
Tinubu expressed gratitude to Walson-Jack for her contributions to the nation as well as the innovations and reforms that the Civil Service underwent while she was in office.
The president wished her “a fulfilling and successful life after service” and conveyed the nation’s gratitude for her years of dedicated and impactful public service.
Congratulations to Abel Enitan on this well-deserved appointment. Your dedication and leadership qualities have clearly earned you this important position, and we wish you success as you undertake this new role. May your tenure be marked by progress, positive change, and outstanding achievements for the service department and the nation as a whole.
