Laura Ikeji Recalls Friendship Fallout Over A Cartier Bracelet

Published on

Laura Ikeji, a businesswoman, has disclosed how she lost a close friend as a result of her refusal to publicly accept a Cartier bracelet that was given to her on her birthday.

Laura revealed in an online video that the woman, who had been her client before they became friends, gave her the pricey bracelet as a surprise on her birthday in March 2025.

Laura claims that she told her friends about the gift right away because she was thrilled about it. But when the woman started inquiring as to when she would share the bracelet on social media, everything changed.

“A few days later, she sent me a message. She said, ‘When are you posting it?’ I’m like, posting what?” Laura recalled.

“Before now, the Laura that I know would post that bracelet ten times and tag the person that gifted me ten times. Now, I’m very happy, but not as loud as I used to be.”

“She said, ‘Do whatever you want.’ So automatically, I knew that she wanted her bracelet back.”

“And that was how the friendship ended,”

The story is a reminder that gifts should be given freely, without expecting anything in return—not even a public post or recognition. As the Bible teaches, giving should be done quietly and sincerely, not for others to see or praise. When you give from the heart, let the good deed remain between you and God.
