Following the completion of the party’s presidential nomination process, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has emerged as the Allied Peoples Movement’s (APM) presidential candidate for the 2027 general election.
The party flag and the Certificate of Return were also given to Makinde.
At the Presidential primary election and unveiling ceremony, which took place at the Emeritus Professor Theophilus Ogunlesi Hall in Ibadan, Yusuf Dantalle, National Chairman of the APM, gave him the certificate and flag.
The National Chairman, who invited all 36 state chairmen of the party, publicly questioned whether Makinde should receive the party ticket prior to presenting the flag. The delegates loudly voted in favor of Makinde.
Speaking, Dantalle claimed that Makinde’s background and established performance in Oyo State were the reasons his candidacy received the affirmative voice vote.
In a statement made soon after the presentation, Dantalle described the occasion as the “birth of the Reset Nigerian Movement,” pointing out that Makinde’s rise came after a peaceful APM presidential primary and represented a new coalition between the People’s Democratic Party and APM, supported by Nigerians who wanted a more prosperous and inclusive country.
Giving Makinde the party flag, Dantalle framed the candidacy as the beginning of a journey to Aso Rock and described him as a seasoned political warrior whose seven years as governor of Oyo State demonstrated resolve to improve citizens’ lives.
Congratulations to Makinde on this well-deserved achievement. Your dedication, vision, and leadership have truly earned you this recognition, and we look forward to seeing your impactful leadership as you represent APM on the national stage. Wishing you success and all the best in this new chapter.
