Luis Figo, a former Portugal international, has disclosed that the Ballon d’Or winner is determined by the voters.

Speaking to Radio MARCA, Figo also predicted that Real Madrid would challenge Barcelona for the La Liga title right up until the very end of the season.

“Surely Madrid will fight until the very end. This is a competition that has to be regular until May,” Figo said.

On the 2026 Ballon d’Or, the Real Madrid legend added: “Who has the power to decide is the one who votes.

“You have to wait to see what happens. I don’t vote, so I don’t have that problem in my head,” he further stated.
