How Igbos Shape Lagos – A Statement By ILLBliss

Published on

Rapper Illbliss has urged Nigerians to refrain from making divisive and inflammatory remarks about non-indigenous people and to be more accepting of those who reside outside of their home states.

The “Aiye Po Gan” artist cited the existence of Igbos in Lagos as an illustration of how non-indigenous people greatly contribute to local development during a recent appearance on the Outside The Box podcast.

“The Igbos have contributed so much to the Lagos economy in terms of trade and commerce. I wonder what would happen if you asked every Igbo person to leave. That’s why I’m always surprised when I hear things like, ‘If you’re not from Lagos State, go back to your state,’” he said.

Igbos are truly important people, and I believe they have contributed immensely to the growth and vibrancy of Lagos. Despite our different tribes and backgrounds, we are all one, united by our shared love for our city and country. Respecting and appreciating each other’s contributions is what makes us stronger and more united as a nation.
