Guinea-Bissau Stun Nigeria With 3-0 AFCON Qualifying Win

At the 24 de Setembro National Stadium in Bissau on Tuesday, Guinea-Bissau defeated Nigeria 3-0 in their Group L 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match.

After being played into the box by Renato Nhaga, Franculino Djú scored the first goal for the home team in the fifteenth minute with a left-footed shot that went past Nigerian goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.

Ademola Lookman was set up by Alex Iwobi for a Nigerian equalizer prior to halftime, but Guinea-Bissau goalkeeper Embadjé made a brilliant save.

After halftime, the hosts persisted in posing a threat, and in the 65th minute, Mama Baldé doubled their lead.

Baldé fired a low shot into the net after receiving the ball from Mamadi Camň on the left.

In an effort to close the gap, Nigeria substituted George Ilenikhena and Raphael Onyedika for Wilfred Ndidi and Akor Adams in the 75th minute.

In the 85th minute, Ilenikhena nearly pulled one back, but Embadjé made another save to keep the Nigerian forward from scoring.

After receiving a through ball from Tamble Monteiro and finishing with his right foot, Álvaro Djaló scored the third goal in stoppage time to give Guinea-Bissau the victory.

After defeating Madagascar 2-1 in their previous Group L match, Nigeria now has more work to do in their qualifying campaign.
