Gov Kefas Takes Bold Step Against Thuggery, For Host Communities

Governor Agbu Kefas issued three executive orders to improve peace and security and eradicate criminality in Taraba State in an effort to combat crime.

The executive orders forbid drug abuse, prohibit political thuggery, protect host mining communities, and enforce related penal provisions.

Governor Kefas stated that the actions were urgently required to protect the lives and future of Taraba State’s citizens shortly after he signed the directives.

Regarding drug abuse, the governor stated that the executive order was intended to bolster the efforts of drug law enforcement agencies, emphasizing that the government, security agencies,parents, teachers, traditional rulers, and the wider society.

Kefas claims that his administration will not put up with drug abuse destroying the state’s future and that swift action will be taken in accordance with the Constitution’s provisions without violating citizens’ rights.

In order to shield children and youth from the risks associated with drug abuse, Governor Kefas called on parents, educators, law enforcement, traditional institutions, and community leaders to collaborate.

The governor stated that the decision to issue the executive order outlawing political thuggery was motivated by the need to maintain the state’s current peace and the impending political campaigns.

He emphasized that his government would not permit anyone to disturb public order or jeopardize the stability of the state, recalling the efforts made by his administration to restore peace and security.

Speaking about illicit mining, Governor Kefas stated that the executive order aims to protect host communities’ interests while ensuring responsible and well-coordinated mining operations.

In order to guarantee that mining operations in the state are appropriately regulated and carried out in compliance with the law, he continued, the Taraba State Government would collaborate closely with the Federal Government and the Minister of Solid Minerals Development.

This bold step by Gov Kefas against thuggery and for host communities is truly commendable. Such proactive measures demonstrate strong leadership and a genuine commitment to ensuring safety, peace, and development within the communities.
