As God blesses the work of your hands and causes your ideas, skills, and efforts to prosper, never come to the point where you say, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” Deuteronomy 8:17–18 warns us against this dangerous mindset. It reminds us that it is God who gives us the power, ability, wisdom, strength, and opportunity to create wealth.
Your hands may have worked, but God gave them strength. Your mind may have produced brilliant ideas, but God gave you the wisdom and creativity. You may have made good decisions, but God preserved you from mistakes that could have destroyed everything. You may have met the right people, but God arranged the relationships and opportunities. Therefore, while you must work diligently and take responsibility, you must never forget the One who made your results possible.
Success can quietly tempt a person to become self-sufficient. The same person who once depended on God for every step may begin to feel that prayer, obedience, humility, and divine direction are no longer necessary. They start trusting their experience, connections, intelligence, or resources more than they trust God. This is how people disconnect themselves from the Source while still enjoying the benefits that came from Him.
Be careful with your words because your words reveal the position of your heart. Do not speak as though you achieved everything by yourself. Do not allow your testimony to remove God from the story. Pride says, “I built this.” Gratitude says, “God helped me to build this.” Humility does not deny your hard work; it simply recognises that your hard work could not have produced lasting results without the grace of God.
Everything that flows must remain connected to its source. A branch may look strong and fruitful, but once it is disconnected from the tree, it begins to dry up. In the same way, talent, influence, wealth, and success cannot sustain themselves forever when a person turns away from God. What grace began must continue by grace. What God supplied must remain under His guidance and authority.
This is why prosperity must deepen your dependence on God rather than reduce it. The more He increases you, the more humble, grateful, obedient, and generous you should become. Let every new level remind you that you are a steward, not the ultimate owner. Wealth is not merely something God places in your hands for comfort; it is also a trust that must be managed according to His purpose.
Never allow your achievements to make you forget the days when you had nothing but faith. Never let abundance silence the prayers that sustained you in seasons of lack. Do not become too successful to listen to God, too busy to walk with Him, or too confident to seek His direction. The moment you begin to believe that you no longer need the Source, you have already begun to run dry.
Remain connected to God. Honour Him with your words, your wealth, your decisions, and your lifestyle. Acknowledge His hand openly and privately. Let your heart continually say, “Lord, everything I have came from You, and everything I become must bring glory to You.”
Your wisdom is from Him. Your strength is from Him. Your creativity is from Him. Your opportunities are from Him. Your life itself is from Him. Therefore, never take the glory that belongs to God. The covenant may produce wealth through your hands, but it is God who gives those hands the power to prosper.
