EFCC Issues Summons To Ex-Governor Sylva In $14.86 Million Fraud Probe

Former Bayelsa State governor Timipre Sylva, who was listed as wanted in connection with an alleged $14.86 million fraud, has been urged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to come forward for interrogation.

In response to Sylva’s claim that the anti-graft agency had behaved more like an organ of the All Progressives Congress (APC) than as a state institution, the Commission’s spokesman, Dele Oyewale, made this statement.

“He has been declared wanted; he should make himself available to the Commission,” Oyewale said in response to the accusation.

Sylva said he had copied his resignation letter to the EFCC, accusing the Commission of growing more politicized. Sylva announced his resignation from the APC on Monday.

Sylva wrote in her resignation letter to the APC chairman of Ward 4 in the Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State that the party’s founding principles had been “thoroughly and unrecognizably thwarted.”

Additionally, he criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, claiming that it had let down most Nigerians and that he could no longer stay in what he called a “floundering ship.”

After speaking with his family, friends, and coworkers, the former governor announced that he was leaving the APC. He also expressed his belief that Nigerians would use the 2027 general election to alter the political landscape of the nation.

In his resignation letter, Sylva purposefully copied the EFCC, stating that the commission had recently conducted itself. ” more as an organ of the APC than as an institution of state.”

In a world where fraud seems to be everywhere, it is essential for individuals to face the truth and clear their names. If he is truly innocent, he should cooperate fully with the EFCC and allow the authorities to investigate thoroughly. Going to the EFCC and clearing his name is the right step toward justice and peace of mind. Only through transparency and honesty can one hope to restore trust and prove their innocence.

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
