Edo Queens Crowned 2026 NWFL Champions with Super Six Triumph

The Nigeria Women Football League’s 2026 champions are Edo Queens Football Club, who won the Super Six competition on Sunday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Edo Queens finished with 10 points from five games after a 0-0 draw in their last game against Bayelsa Queens.

The team from Benin won three games, drew one, and lost one.

Despite having a lower goal differential and finishing in second place, Bayelsa Queens also finished with 10 points.

After a 0-0 draw with Rivers Angels, who finished fourth in the competition, Nasarawa Amazons, who had defeated Edo Queens in the first game, finished third with eight points.

Moses Aduku, the coach, gave his players praise for their performance during the competition.

Despite losing to Nasarawa Amazons at the beginning of the competition, he pointed out that his team bravely rallied to win the Super Six championship.

He said, “It has been a rewarding season for us after winning the trophy. Despite losing the first game, they picked themselves up and did Edo proud. I commend them.”

The coach also praised the state’s citizens and Amadin Enabulele, the chairman of the Edo State Sports Council, for their unwavering support, which he claimed helped the team succeed.

Enabulele told The PUNCH that finding and developing talents that would make the state proud was just as important as winning a trophy. He assured Governor Monday Okpebholo that he would always try his hardest and thanked him for allowing him to serve.

“I am happy we have won. The victory is beyond winning the trophy; it is about discovering and nurturing talents for the benefit of the state.”
