Comedian Basketmouth’s estranged wife, Elsie Okpocha, has bemoaned the subtle emotional difficulties that many women encounter in their marriages.
Elsie shared a conversation about a woman who allegedly refused to list her husband as her emergency contact because he seldom answers her calls in a post on her Instagram story.
“Someone told me she doesn’t have her husband as her emergency contact, and I asked why? She said cos he won’t pick her calls normally talk more of emergency. I felt for her.”
“And sometimes you wonder the essence of marriage…. when this is a tip of the iceberg of what women go through, sad!” she added.
I fall into that category, but I want to clarify that I don’t do it intentionally. Sometimes, my phone might be on silent or tucked away in my bag, and I may not notice the missed calls immediately. However, when it comes to marriage, one key principle is that both parties should always be there for each other. If you notice a missed call from your spouse or partner, it’s advisable to return the call as soon as possible.
Communication and being present for each other are the cornerstones of a strong and healthy relationship.
