Babcock University Denies Carter Efe’s Claim: No ‘First Class Upper’ Certificates Issued

The administration of Babcock University has disassociated itself from an alleged academic certificate that is making the rounds on the internet, characterizing it as fraudulent, unapproved, and not produced by the university.

The university stated in a June 29, 2026, public notice that it had become aware of fraudulent documents purportedly issued in its name by people pretending to be affiliated with the institution.

The university specifically referenced an “Honorary Certificate” purportedly awarded by the “Babcock University Biochemistry Computer Club” to one Oderhohwo Joseph Efe for achieving a “First Class Upper,” stating that the document did not emanate from the university.

The notice states that Babcock University does not recognize any academic classification known as “First Class Upper” or grant honorary certificates in recognition of undergraduate academic achievement.

It stated that the Office of the Registrar’s degree certificates and academic transcripts are the only ways to verify the official classification of “First Class Honours.”

Employers, educational institutions, professional associations, government agencies, and members of the public were advised by the institution to ignore any such documents that were allegedly issued by the university outside of its recognized academic procedures.

Babcock cautioned that anyone caught creating, disseminating, presenting, or utilizing forged academic records could be investigated and prosecuted under relevant laws pertaining to academic record falsification, fraud, and forgery.

Additionally, the university advised the public to use its Office of the Registrar to confirm the legitimacy of academic credentials before using them for official purposes.

Why would Carter claim he graduated with an Upper First Class when he did not? We are patiently awaiting the full details and outcome of this situation. Stay tuned and keep it locked here as we continue to bring you updates as the story unfolds.
