Azeez Secures Super Eagles’ Spot In Unity Cup Final On Debut
In the first game of the Unity Cup, Nigeria’s national football team defeated Zimbabwe 2-0 thanks to a spectacular brace from Femi Azeez.
On his debut, the Millwall F.C. winger made an instant impression, giving Nigeria an early lead with a strong left-footed strike in the fourth minute.
In the second half, Azeez maintained his outstanding play, scoring his second goal just after the hour mark to give the Super Eagles the victory and guarantee their spot in the championship game.
His outstanding performance demonstrated why head coach Éric Chelle was adamant about securing his future with Nigeria rather than England. Recently, the 24-year-old was named to the English Championship Team of the Year.
Chelle had previously likened Azeez’s style of play to that of Michael Olise, and in his debut for Nigeria, the winger lived up to the comparison with a dynamic and aggressive performance.
As they continue their quest to win the Unity Cup again, the Super Eagles will now watch the outcome of the second semi-final between India and Jamaica.
Congratulations to the Super Eagles on their impressive journey to the Unity Cup final! Their hard work, teamwork, and determination have truly paid off. Special praise goes to Azeez, whose outstanding performance and debut heroics have inspired fans and teammates alike. His talent and dedication promise an exciting future for the team. Well done, Super Eagles!
