Aproko Doctor: Hidden Dangers – How Symptoms Can Mislead You Into Overlooking Serious Illnesses

Nigerians have been informed by medical professional and health educator Dr. Chinonso Egemba, also referred to as Aproko Doctor, that certain cancers can develop silently and that their symptoms are frequently confused with those of common illnesses like ulcers.

In response to inquiries on Monday, Egemba clarified how veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, better known by his stage name “Ogogo,” could have been diagnosed with stage-four cancer even though he appeared healthy just weeks before his passing.

Following a fight with cancer, the actor passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66.

Aproko Doctor stated in a number of posts on X that a person’s external appearance is not always a good indicator of their internal health.

“The uncomfortable truth is that looking healthy does not always mean that everything is fine inside your body. Some serious illnesses can develop quietly, with symptoms that may look like ordinary problems at first.”

“Ulcer. Can ulcer actually be cancer? Not exactly. An ulcer does not simply turn into cancer. But some cancers, particularly cancers of the stomach, can cause symptoms that people commonly describe as ulcer.”

“This is why that stomach pain that keeps coming back deserves more attention than simply taking the ulcer drug you used last time,” he said.

“If the symptoms keep returning despite treatment, don’t just keep changing the drug. Go back and investigate what is actually causing them.”

“And please, don’t let this thread make you panic every time your stomach hurts. Most stomach pain is not cancer.”

“The point is don’t spend months or years treating a diagnosis that was never properly confirmed. If something keeps coming back, find out why.”

“Finally, to the family of Alhaji Taiwo Hassan, Ogogo: Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, loved ones and everyone mourning him. May his soul rest in peace.”

Regular checkups are essential for maintaining good health and catching potential health issues early. Even if you feel fine, routine medical examinations can reveal underlying problems before they become serious. Don’t wait for symptoms to appear—schedule your checkups and stay proactive about your health. Remember, prevention is always better than cure.

QUOTES

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
