32-year-old American singer Oliver Tree dies following helicopter crash in Brazil

American singer-songwriter Oliver Tree has reportedly died at the age of 32 following a tragic helicopter crash in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

According to multiple reports, the alternative rock star was among six people killed when two helicopters collided mid-air above an electric vehicle yard in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes area of Rio de Janeiro on Sunday morning. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.

Reports indicate that Tree was travelling in one of the helicopters alongside four other occupants, while the second aircraft was carrying only its pilot. All six people on board the two helicopters lost their lives in the incident.

Best known for hit songs such as “Life Goes On,” “Miss You,” and “Hurt,” Oliver Tree rose to international fame with his unique blend of alternative rock, pop, and electronic music. His distinctive style, eccentric personality, and viral social media presence helped him build a massive global fanbase.

Born Oliver Tree Nickell in California, the singer began his music career at the age of 17, collaborating with renowned artists including Skrillex and Zeds Dead under the name Tree. He later released an independent album in 2013 before taking a break to study music technology.

His debut studio album, “Ugly Is Beautiful,” was released in 2020 and was followed by “Cowboy Tears” in 2022 and “Alone in a Crowd” in 2023. The singer had also been touring globally and was reportedly in the middle of a world tour at the time of his death.
