The talented Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, has credited his interactions with younger people for his youthful vitality.
Despite their sporadic arguments, the 65-year-old movie star claimed in an interview on At His Right Hand that working with younger people keeps him motivated and teaches him new things.
He clarified that having children at a young age also affected his relationships with younger people, adding that his interactions with them have influenced his speech and attire.
“Interacting with young people helps me retain my youthful energy. I think my oldest staff member is 28 or 27. I like to work with younger people. We fight, disagree and abuse each other, but even in their foolishness, I learn a lot of things. I also had kids early in my life, so I’m constantly talking to them as though we’re agemates. It affects how I speak and dress,” he said.
“And I don’t let the old man in. I don’t wake up saying I’m 65; I wake up just wanting to do things. I’m in a state of being myself, and I just wake up to do what I have to do without considering whether my body is cooperating or not, because if my head is strong enough, then my body has no choice.”
Working with young people often brings fresh ideas, energy, and a proactive spirit to a team. As my pastor says, she prefers working with young minds because of their enthusiasm and readiness to take initiative—though people of every age have valuable strengths to contribute.
