Nigerian singer Adebayo Adeleke, better known by his stage as name B-Red, has stated that if his father, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, were elected president, Nigeria would undergo substantial changes.
The remark, which B-Red made in a 2023 interview on the Echoroom podcast, reappeared on social media on Tuesday.
Days after Adeleke was elected Osun State governor for a second term on August 15, 2026, his comment reappeared. Bola Oyebamiji, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, received 444,815 votes, while the governor, running on the Accord Party platform, received 511,067.
He said, “People are talking about it, but I don’t want him to be. I don’t want no stress on me, your daddy, I beg. Your father is the president; he did not do this.”
“But I know my dad, he has such a good heart, but if he does become the president, this country go change oh.”
“It will choke in every aspect. Because he’s not, he’s going to do everything that people want him to do. You know, I’ve been rich for a long time, so we’re not coming here to steal money, bro. I’m coming here to help people, you understand?” he said.
We hope that B-Red’s words are a sign of genuine belief in Adeleke’s leadership and the positive change it could bring to Nigeria. Alternatively, it might simply be a heartfelt praise for his father.
Either way, his words reflect a sense of pride and optimism for what lies ahead.
