‘We have to watch out’: Poland’s Zalewski predicts friendly match against Nigeria
The Roma player acknowledged Nigeria’s status as a formidable opponent despite the high-profile absence of key forwards Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman.
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle confirmed that both players would miss the fixture, a development Zalewski admitted he only learned about shortly before his pre-match press conference.
Nigeria enters the match in buoyant spirits following a convincing 3–0 victory over Jamaica to claim the 2026 Unity Cup.
Conversely, Poland is looking to rebuild momentum on home soil after suffering a 2–0 friendly defeat at the hands of Ukraine.
Zalewski emphasized that the Super Eagles retain immense quality, describing them as a physically strong and incredibly fast team that requires absolute focus from the Polish defense.
“I have only just learned that Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen will not be playing.
“But Nigeria is a very, very good team, strong physically, and very, very fast. We have to watch out for them because it will be a good match.”
This fixture marks only the second senior international meeting between the two nations, with Nigeria having won the previous encounter 1–0 in Wrocław back in 2018.
Broadcasting networks, including SuperSport, have confirmed that the match will kick off at 7:45 PM West African Time, with fans across the continent able to follow the action live on dedicated sports channels.
