Hollywood director Tyler Perry claims he has no intention of getting married, citing the “divorce pandemic.”
During a recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the 57-year-old actor—who has never been married—discussed his choice.
Perry, who has an 11-year-old son named Aman with Gelila Bekele, stated that his choice is motivated by a desire to safeguard what he has created rather than a lack of love.
He cited the financial and legal ramifications of divorce as a significant contributing factor.
“I’m never marrying. And it’s actually the divorce pandemic that is happening. Everybody that I know that is doing well went broke because of divorce,” he said.
“It’s time to slow down a bit, enjoy more time with my son and just take it all in.”
In 2020, Perry had also opened up about experiencing a midlife crisis, describing himself as single and uncertain about what the next chapter of his life would look like.
“This is what a midlife crisis looks like. I’m 51, single, and wondering what the next chapter in my life will look like. Whatever it looks like I’m going to walk with God, be the best father and man I can be,” he wrote at the time.
Everyone has the right to make their own choices about their lives, and their opinions about what they do should be respected. Tyler Perry’s decision not to get married is entirely his own, and it reflects what he personally wants. It’s important that we refrain from judging him for his choices and understand that everyone’s path is different. Ultimately, what matters most is that he is true to himself and lives life on his own terms.
