TotalEnergies, AMNI Move Ahead With Nigeria’s Ima Gas Field Development

TotalEnergies and AMNI advance development of Nigeria’s Ima offshore gas field, with production expected to begin in 2028.

TotalEnergies and its Nigerian partner AMNI have approved the development of the Ima offshore gas field, paving the way for a project expected to increase gas supplies to Nigeria LNG.

Located within Oil Mining Leases 112 and 117 near Bonny Island, the Ima field is expected to begin production in 2028 and reach peak output of 350 million cubic feet of gas per day.

The gas will be transported through a dedicated pipeline to Nigeria LNG, where it is expected to provide about one-third of the gas needed for the company’s Train 7 expansion.

The Train 7 project is expected to raise Nigeria LNG’s liquefaction capacity to 30 million metric tonnes per year, from its current capacity of 22 million tonnes.

TotalEnergies said the Ima development is part of its broader integrated gas strategy in Nigeria and will provide lower-cost gas resources to support domestic energy needs and LNG production.
