Toluwanising’s Burial: Wife Makes A Major Decision
Damilola Olayemi, widow of late gospel singer Toluwanisings, has reportedly agreed with his family to bury him at their residence in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Lanre Alewilese, a close friend and fellow musician, shared the update in an Instagram video on Sunday. He described the earlier dispute between Olayemi and her father-in-law as a misunderstanding that has now been settled.
The disagreement became public after the singer’s family said Olayemi had opposed burying him at the Ibadan home and favoured a cemetery instead. Toluwanisings’ father had said that if his son could not be laid to rest at the residence, he should be buried in his hometown, close to his late mother.
The dispute sparked widespread reactions online, with some people criticising the widow and calling for an investigation into the singer’s death.
Alewilese urged the public to stop attacking Olayemi, saying she is coping with a difficult loss.
He also said those who worked with the singer could speak to her supportive nature.
According to Alewilese, the two sides have reached an agreement for Toluwanisings to be buried at the family home.
He appealed to the singer’s fans and the wider public to allow the family to grieve in peace now that the burial arrangements have been resolved.
I commend the widow for choosing a path that allows peace to prevail during this difficult time. May God comfort and strengthen her as she mourns her husband
