Tiwa Savage, 2Baba, Obi Cubana, Mercy Aigbe, and others mourn Alexx Ekubo following death from Metastatic Kidney Cancer

Popular Nigerian celebrities, including Tiwa Savage, 2Baba, Obi Cubana, Mercy Aigbe, and others, have taken to social media to mourn the death of Alexx Ekubo.

Today, Alexx Ekubo’s family releases an official statement confirming that the actor passed away on Monday, May 11th, 2026, at Evercare Hospital in Lekki, Lagos.

They confirmed that 40-year-old Alexx Ekubo passed away as a result of his battle with advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

The statement read in part: “After a brief but courageous battle, Alexx passed away at Evercare Hospital due to complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer. Throughout this difficult journey, he bore his pain with remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and enduring hope, believing that one day his testimony would be shared with the world.”
