Tinubu Saddened By Death Of Veteran Actor Francis Duru

Veteran Nollywood actor Richard Francis Duru passed away at the age of 57, and President Bola Tinubu expressed his sorrow.

In a statement released on Friday, October 23, Tinubu’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, expressed his condolences to the actor’s family, coworkers, fans, and the Nigerian film industry.

The President acknowledged the actor’s contributions to the expansion and advancement of Nigeria’s film industry and called Duru’s passing a terrible loss to Nollywood and the country’s creative community.

The statement reads:; “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expresses deep sorrow over the passing of veteran Nollywood actor, Richard Francis Duru, extending his heartfelt condolences to his family, colleagues, fans and the Nigerian film industry.

Duru passed away at 57.

The President describes the loss of the respected actor as a painful moment for Nollywood and the nation’s creative community, which has benefited immensely from its pioneers’ dedication, talent, and contributions.

President Tinubu acknowledges the important role veteran actors like Duru played in the growth and development of Nigeria’s film industry, particularly in shaping its artistic identity, nurturing emerging talent, and projecting Nigerian stories, culture, and values to audiences at home and abroad.
