Tinubu Orders Three-Day National Mourning After NAF Crash

Three days of national mourning have been announced by President Bola Tinubu for the Nigerian Air Force members who perished in the military plane crash in Ondo State on Monday.

In addition, Tinubu ordered flags to be flown half-mast nationwide in remembrance of the fallen officers.

This was stated in a statement signed on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Advisor on Information and Strategy.

On a routine flight from Benin, Edo State, to Lagos, the Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft crashed close to a naval base in the Igbokoda region of Ondo State.

“This is a painful moment for our Armed Forces and for the entire nation. Our Air Force personnel put their lives on the line every day to secure Nigeria. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten,” Tinubu said.

“The Chief of Air Staff has briefed me, and I have directed the Nigerian Air Force to immediately commence a thorough investigation into the cause of the crash to prevent future occurrences.”

May their soul rest in perfect peace.
