Tinubu Boosts Security In Oyo: 1,000 Forest Guards And Rescue Team Mobilized To Save Abducted Pupils

In order to step up efforts to rescue students and teachers kidnapped from three schools in the state’s Oriire Local Government Area, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has authorized the hiring of 1,000 forest guards in Oyo State and directed the deployment of a specialized security team.

As part of steps to improve security and deter future attacks, the President also promised to take into account the locals’ request for the construction of a military base in the impacted area.

Following the kidnapping of students and teachers from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School on May 15, a powerful delegation from the Federal Government visited Esiele and Yawota communities on Sunday to deliver the decisions.

Residents were informed by the delegation, which was headed by Femi Gbajabiamila, the President’s Chief of Staff, that the Federal Government was still fully committed to ensuring the victims’ safe return.

“Mr. President is deeply troubled by this incident. Whatever it takes, our children and teachers will be brought back home safely. He has issued all necessary directives and is providing every support required by our security agencies to achieve that objective.”

“Your pain and anxiety are understood. By the grace of God, your children will return safely to your arms,” he added.

Gbajabiamila also responded to appeals by some parents and community members urging caution in the rescue efforts, assuring them that security operations would be intelligence-driven.

“Mr. President also saw the appeals from some parents and community members urging caution in the rescue efforts. Let me assure you that the operation will be intelligence-led and carefully coordinated, deploying both kinetic and non-kinetic measures to secure the safe return of the victims.”

We eagerly await the safe return of the children and their teachers, trusting that the combined efforts of security forces will bring them back to their loved ones soon. Their safety and well-being remain our top priority, and we remain hopeful for a swift and successful rescue.

We are not trapped or locked up in these bones. No, no. We are free to change. And love changes us. And if we can love one another, we can break open the sky.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
