Should A Husband Work For His Wife? The Power Of Humility And Respect In Marriage

This morning, I watched my favorite program, Your View, and the topic really resonated with me. It was about whether a man can work for his wife to earn a salary.

The story was about a woman whose husband lost his job, and in an effort to cut down household expenses, he volunteered to work in his wife’s company and receive a salary.

Not all men may be willing or able to do this, and that’s okay. Some men’s egos might prevent them from taking such a step. However, I admire the humility of the husband in this story. He respected his wife, was cautious with his words, and avoided tarnishing her image in front of her staff. His humility and willingness to contribute, even in a small way, showed his understanding of their situation and his commitment to their family.

This story teaches us that harmony in marriage depends on understanding, humility, and respect. If a husband is responsible, humble, and willing to support his family, even by working in his wife’s business, it can strengthen their bond. But it’s important to note that such arrangements only work when both partners respect each other and understand their roles.

On the flip side, if a man spends lavishly, squanders resources, and disrespects his wife—causing embarrassment at her workplace or contributing nothing to the household—such behavior is unacceptable. Respect and responsibility are key.

Kudos to men like this husband, who are willing to humble themselves for the good of their families.

Their humility should be praised, and they should be appreciated for putting their families first. True strength lies in humility, respect, and the readiness to support each other through thick and thin.

QUOTES

Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment." - Mahatma Gandh
