Actress Ruth Kadiri has called on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to pay more attention to what Nigerians are purchasing and consuming in light of the country’s increasing supply of counterfeit and potentially dangerous goods.
She described an encounter with garlic she had purchased before discussing her worry.
She claims that after blending the garlic and going downstairs, she noticed that the color had changed when she came back.
“Dear Nigerians, I’m speaking to you today with a heavy heart and deep concern about the circulation of fake products in our country. Every day, we buy different products believing they are safe, but sadly, some are poorly produced, contaminated, harmful and fake. This is a threat to human life. Imagine little children battling kidney failure.”
NAFDAC should urgently investigate the growing spread of fake products and take decisive action to protect public health. It is alarming that people continue to produce and sell counterfeit goods at the expense of consumers’ safety. Those responsible should be identified and brought to justice.
